Students in the painting class at Greene County High School are again leaving their marks on the community.
Last year students painted a beach scene on the concession building at the municipal pool. This year they’re giving Twiins Shoppe on E. Lincoln Way a welcome, and very fun, facelift.
Twiins Shoppe owner Doug Meinecke said it was art teacher Sarah Stott who approached him about the project. “This place has always been just plain white. It’s the perfect spot for some art and an easy, natural thing for the kids to do,” Stott said.
She did some sketches, shared them with Meinecke, and then shared them with students. The students helped refine the ideas.
Painting started last week and the partially-completed work received rave reviews immediately.
A total of 18 students are working on the project, not all of them in the painting class. Stott said the painting should be done by the end of the week.
